What this amendment would do

SA 3853, submitted by Mr. Sanders, aims to provide funding for dental care from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

  • The amendment proposes reducing the aggregate amount authorized to be appropriated for fiscal year 2026 (excluding military personnel and the Defense Health Program) by 10 percent.

  • This reduction would be applied on a pro rata basis across the accounts, funds, programs, projects, and activities involved.

  • The funds from this reduction would be used by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide direct dental care to all veterans eligible for health care from the Department of Veterans Affairs. This would be done by hiring more dentists and other clinicians and expanding dental equipment and treatment rooms.
