SA 3838, submitted by Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Ossoff, aims to add a new section to the bill titled "Guidance on Increasing Contract Awards to Small Business Concerns Owned and Controlled by Service-disabled Veterans."
The purpose of this amendment is to change the Small Business Act by requiring the Administrator to do the following:
-
Issue guidance and best practices within 180 days of enactment to increase the number of contracts awarded to small businesses owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans for applicable Federal agencies.
-
Work with other Federal agencies to collect data on service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses that are denied contracts and the reasons for those denials.
-
Issue a report that addresses:
- If there are low application rates from these small businesses.
