What this amendment would do

This amendment, numbered SA 377 and submitted by Ms. Cortez Masto and Ms. Rosen, sets up a point of order in the Senate against funding certain immigration enforcement measures.

What it aims to change or add

The amendment aims to add a new rule to the budget resolution. Specifically, it stops the Senate from considering any legislation, resolution, motion, or conference report that funds immigration enforcement measures if those measures negatively impact the United States travel and tourism industry.

How the rule works

If someone raises a point of order against a measure for hurting travel and tourism through immigration enforcement, the Senate cannot consider it. This rule can only be waived, or an appeal of the Chair's ruling sustained, with an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members, duly chosen and sworn.
