What this amendment would do
SA 3755 is an amendment to bill S. 2296. Its purpose is to add a new section (SEC. 350) regarding the transfer of specific aircraft.
The amendment aims to add the following to the bill:
-
Transfer Authority: It allows the Secretary of the Navy to transfer one or more F-14 Tomcat aircraft from the Department of the Navy or Department of Defense to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This can be done via loan, gift, sale, or other means under terms set by the Secretary.
-
Restoration and Operation: It allows the Center to work with qualified nonprofit organizations to restore and operate these aircraft for commemorative events, airshows, and public display to preserve naval aviation heritage.
-
Costs: The transfer must be at no cost to the United States. The Center is responsible for all costs related to the conveyance, operation, maintenance, and compliance with the transfer terms.
