S.Amdt. 3746

SA 3746, submitted by Mr. Lujan and Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a section to bill S. 2296 regarding the Reforestation of Land Destroyed by the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.

The purpose of this amendment is to change the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act to allow for the following:

• Payments for claims may include damages for uncompensated resource losses for costs the State of New Mexico incurs to design and construct a center.
• This center is for the purpose of researching, developing, and generating native seedlings to regenerate forests destroyed by the fire with native species.
• These efforts must be determined by the Administrator and incurred by December 31, 2030.

There is a limitation that payments for the design and construction of this center cannot be made until all claims by an injured person pending on the date of enactment are paid or resolved.
