What this amendment would do

SA 3744, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen, aims to change how VA home loans are handled and updated on loan applications.

The amendment seeks to add the following:

  • VA Loan Information: It amends the National Housing Act to include information about assuming prevailing interest rates for loans guaranteed or insured under chapter 37 of title 38, United States Code.

  • Military Service Question: It requires the Director to ensure each enterprise includes a military service question on the Uniform Residential Loan Application. This question must be placed above the signature line.

  • Timeline: The Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency is required to issue a rule to carry out these changes within 6 months after the date of enactment.
