What this amendment would do

SA 3671, submitted by Mrs. Britt, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296. Its purpose is to require the Secretary of the Air Force to create a report regarding indoor mold, pathogens, and airborne toxins in Air Force installation housing units.

The amendment requires this report to be submitted to the House and Senate Committees on Armed Services within 180 days of the Act's enactment. The report must include:

  • An assessment of Air Force installations in the United States with 500 or more housing units that have reported mold, pathogens, or airborne toxins since 2010.
  • The number of reports and relevant dates for each of those installations.
  • A description of the steps being taken by the Secretary of the Air Force to remediate the affected housing units.
  • An assessment of the ability to locate, mitigate, and prevent these issues, including the cost and feasibility of testing and treating units before Air Force members and their dependents move in.
