What this amendment would do

SA 3656, submitted by Mr. Cruz, aims to change section 842(d)(2) of bill S. 2296.

The purpose of this amendment is to change how a report is handled by adding the following:

  • The Secretary of Defense must submit the report, including any comments from the Secretary, to the appropriate congressional committees within 30 days of receiving the report mentioned in subparagraph (A).

  • It defines appropriate congressional committees as:

    • The Senate Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
    • The House of Representatives Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
