What this amendment would do

SA 3593, submitted by Mr. Sanders for Mr. Welch, aims to add a new section (SEC. 1265) to bill S. 2296. The purpose of this amendment is to prohibit the use of funds authorized or available for the Department of Defense for fiscal year 2026 for specific activities in Gaza.

The amendment seeks to stop funds from being used for the following:

  • Deploying the United States Armed Forces to Gaza.

  • Any activity related to the removal, displacement, or forced transfer of Palestinians to designated zones within or from Gaza.

  • Participating in, funding, approving licenses for the export of United States-origin weapons in support of, contracting for, or facilitating armed security services in Gaza by United States persons, unless an Act of Congress has authorized those activities or services.
