What this amendment would do

SA 3582, submitted by Ms. Smith and Ms. Klobuchar, aims to change how payments are handled for additional lands acquired in Northern Minnesota.

The amendment proposes to modify Section 5 of the Thye-Blatnik Act (Act of June 22, 1948). Specifically, it changes the language regarding the value of the land:

  • It removes the phrase "of the fair appraised value of such".
  • It adds the phrase "of the highest fair appraised value, including historical fair appraised values, as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture in accordance with this section, of such".
