What this amendment would do

SA 3568, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a section to bill S. 2296 regarding a communications and outreach campaign.

The purpose of this amendment is to have the Secretary of Veterans Affairs educate veterans living in rural areas about the 211 helpline network. This is intended to make these veterans aware of available community resources and health programs.

To do this, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must work with the 211 helpline network to ensure:

  • The network can handle calls from veterans.
  • Veterans in rural areas are aware they can call 211 for information on services that are reduced-cost or free.
