What this amendment would do

SA 3533, submitted by Mr. Warner, is an amendment to bill S. 2296. Its purpose is to require the Secretary of Transportation to create a plan to establish a memorial.

The amendment aims to add a section to the bill that focuses on the following:

  • Honoring the individuals who died in the mid-air collision on January 29, 2025, between United States Army Aviation Brigade Priority Air Transport 25 and American Airlines Flight 5342.

  • Honoring the local, State, and Federal agencies that helped with the investigation, recovery, and rescue following the collision.

To develop this plan, the Secretary of Transportation must consult with:

  • The Secretary of the Army.
  • The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.
  • Family representatives of those who died in the collision.
  • Any other entities or individuals the Secretary deems appropriate.
