What this amendment would do

SA 3316, submitted by Mr. LEE, aims to change the membership of the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate.

The amendment seeks to add the following:

  • Every Member of the Senate who is not already a member of the select committee will become an ex officio member.
  • These ex officio members will not have a vote in the select committee.
  • These members will not be counted to determine a quorum.

The amendment also includes a conforming amendment to Rule XXV of the Standing Rules of the Senate to change the number 19 to 100 in the item relating to the Select Committee on Intelligence. Additionally, it amends Rule XXV paragraph 4(a)(2) to state that a Senator may not serve on both the Joint Economic Committee and the Special Committee on Aging.
