What this amendment would do
SA 3314, submitted by Mr. Lee, is an amendment to bill S. 2296.
The purpose of this amendment is to add Section 1248, titled "Taiwan War Powers," to the end of subtitle D of title XII.
It aims to change the bill by adding the following:
- It states that nothing in the Act can be seen as an authorization to use military force against the People's Republic of China.
- It specifies that any such action in support of Taiwan can only happen if Congress gives express authorization that follows the requirements of the War Powers Act.
