What this amendment would do

SA 3307, submitted by Mr. Lee, aims to add a new section (SEC. 605) to bill S. 2296.

The purpose of this amendment is to require a report on how funds collected from basic allowance for subsistence payments were spent during fiscal year 2024.

  • The Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), working with the Director of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service and the Secretaries of the military departments, must submit this report to the congressional defense committees within 90 days of the Act's enactment.
  • The report must list expenditures disaggregated by branch of the Armed Forces.
  • This report must be provided to any Member of Congress who requests it.
