What this amendment would do
SA 3284, submitted by Mr. Murphy, aims to limit how funds are used for space-based interceptor development for fiscal year 2026.
The purpose of this amendment is to stop the obligation or expenditure of funds for space-based interceptor development until the Secretary of Defense provides a report to the congressional defense committees.
The required report must include:
-
Specific elements, goals, procurement and research and development plans, and cost estimates for the Golden Dome missile defense system architecture.
-
An analysis regarding the technical feasibility of a missile defense shield to protect the entire United States homeland.
-
Details on oversight, accountability mechanisms, contracting safeguards, and recusal requirements to prevent biased decisionmaking, corrupt business dealings, or conflicts of interest during the program's rapid rollout.
