What this amendment would do

SA 3261, submitted by Mr. Tuberville, aims to add a new section (SEC. 320A) to the bill S. 2296.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the Department of Defense from using any funds authorized by the Act to implement section 305(a)(3)(D) of the Energy Conservation and Production Act, including any related rules or regulations.

This limitation applies to:

  • Property owned or leased by the Department of Defense.
  • Property used for purposes of national defense.

The amendment states this is intended to ensure national security, defense of the United States, and the effectiveness and readiness of the Armed Forces.
