What this amendment would do
SA 3256, submitted by Mr. Crapo and Mr. Lujan, is an amendment to bill S. 2296. Its purpose is to modify the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act regarding administrative costs and filing.
The amendment aims to add and change the following:
-
It adds the requirement for an electronic filing system, while making the use of that system optional for individuals.
-
It changes how administrative expenses are handled by allowing the Attorney General to use amounts in the Fund for processing and adjudicating claims and payments starting on the date the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026 is enacted.
-
It ensures the Fund stays available for these purposes until the Attorney General decides that all timely filed claims are paid or that denied claimants have had a full opportunity for judicial and administrative review.
