What this amendment would do
SA 3161, submitted by Mr. Tuberville, aims to add Section 2833 to the bill. This addition would allow the Secretary of the Army to transfer all United States right, title, and interest in a property located in the City of Opelika, Alabama, to the City.
The property consists of approximately 4.5 acres containing an Army Reserve Center. The purpose of this transfer is to meet increased health care demands.
- Reversion of Property: If the Secretary finds the property is not being used for the specified purpose, the property may revert back to the United States.
- Costs: The City may be required to pay or reimburse the Secretary for conveyance costs, excluding environmental remediation. Federal funds cannot be used for these payments.
- Conditions: The transfer is subject to existing easements, restrictions, and covenants. The Secretary can also require additional terms to protect United States interests.
