What this amendment would do

SA 3138, submitted by Mr. Gallego, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296 regarding research on innovative therapies for veterans.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to do the following:

  • Conduct research on innovative therapies, such as ketamine, ibogaine, psilocybin, and MDMA, to treat veterans suffering from substance use disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, Parkinson's disease, depression, chronic pain, bipolar disorder, and anxiety.

  • Submit a report to Congress within one year of the Act's enactment that includes the Secretary's recommendations or findings on how to improve the delivery of these innovative therapies to veterans.
