What this amendment would do

SA 3058, submitted by Mr. PADILLA, is an amendment to bill H.R. 3944. This bill deals with appropriations for military construction, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the use of funds appropriated for Department of Defense military construction for the following:

  • Constructing, renovating, or expanding any facility for the Department of Defense to detain migrants.

  • Constructing, renovating, or expanding any facility to help the Department of Homeland Security detain migrants, which includes housing Department of Homeland Security personnel.
