What this amendment would do

SA 3035 aims to improve warnings about potential predatory practices involving attorneys and agents for veterans claims.

It proposes the following changes:

  • It changes the requirement for warnings from being issued when a claimant logs in to being issued by each public-facing website and online tool of the Department.

  • It adds language to include individuals lacking recognition by the Secretary.

  • It adds a new message that discourages veterans from sharing their Department account log-in credentials or bank account log-in credentials, including passwords or usernames, with anyone.

  • It specifies that the Secretary will carry out these actions through the Chief Veterans Experience Officer.
