What this amendment would do

SA 3010, submitted by Mr. Warnock and Mr. Ossoff, aims to add a section to bill S. 2296 regarding the naming of certain Department of Defense assets in the State of Georgia.

The amendment seeks to change or add the following:

  • Implementation of Names: The Secretary of Defense must implement naming recommendations for Department of Defense assets in Georgia that were adopted by the Commission within 30 days after the Act is enacted.

  • Restrictions on Changes: The Secretary of Defense is prohibited from changing the name of a Department of Defense asset in Georgia adopted by the Commission to any name other than the one adopted.

  • Definition: The "Commission" is defined as the commission established under section 370(b) of the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021.
