What this amendment would do

SA 2982, submitted by Ms. Cortez Masto, aims to add a section to H.R. 3944 regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs Clinical Staffing Transparency and Improvement Plan.

The amendment proposes the following changes:

  • Public Staffing Reports: The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must publish reports on a public website at least quarterly. These reports must be broken down by facility and show filled and vacant positions for key health care roles.

  • Improvement Plan: Every report must include a detailed plan to fix critical staffing shortages, including timelines and measurable milestones for retention and hiring.

  • Congressional Notification: The Secretary must notify the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations and Veterans' Affairs about significant clinical staffing shortfalls and the progress made in resolving them.
