What this amendment would do
SA 2961, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296. This addition establishes a presumption of exposure to toxic substances for specific members and former members of the Armed Forces.
The amendment changes the bill by adding Section 1067, which applies to personnel who are or have been stationed at a covered location.
A covered location is defined as:
-
Any facility on the most recent list published in the Federal Register by the Department of Energy under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000.
-
Any location classified or data masked by the Department of Defense where there is or was potential exposure to toxic substances, such as from the use of burn pits to dispose of waste.
