S.Amdt. 2947

SA 2947, submitted by Mr. Lujan and Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a new section to bill S. 2296 titled REFORESTATION OF LAND DESTROYED BY THE HERMIT'S PEAK/CALF CANYON FIRE.

The purpose of this amendment is to change the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act to allow for the following:

• Claims paid for injury under the Act may include damages for uncompensated resource losses.
• These damages cover costs for reasonable efforts made by the State of New Mexico by December 31, 2030.
• The funds are for the design, construction, and operation of a center.
• The center's purpose is to research, develop, and generate native seedlings to regenerate forests destroyed by the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire using native species.
