What this amendment would do

SA 2896 is an amendment proposed by Mr. Ossoff and several other members to an earlier amendment (SA 2853) regarding bill H.R. 4.

The purpose of this amendment is to change the amount of money being rescinded and ensure specific funds are used. It aims to:

  • Change the amount being permanently rescinded from $436,920,000 to $294,920,000.

  • Require that the full amount of unobligated balances for the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) be obligated according to Public Law 118-47 and Public Law 119-4.

What Congress actually voted on

  • The Senate: a vote on a proposed change to the billAmendment Rejected 48–51

A vote on one change, not on the bill. A bill can collect dozens of these, and losing one does not stop it.
