What this amendment would do

Mr. Kaine submitted SA 285, which is an amendment meant to be added to the concurrent resolution for the federal budget for fiscal year 2025.

The Purpose of the Amendment

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to doubling funding for career and technical education.

What It Aims to Change or Add

This amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise budget allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports that relate to doubling funding for career and technical education.

To make this happen, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
