What this amendment would do

As folks keeping an eye out for the public good and holding our elected officials accountable, we need to know what this paperwork is really doing. Mr. Markey put forward amendment SA 2819 to be added to the bill.

The purpose and goal of this amendment is simple: it adds a strict rule to section 50104(b).

It states that no geophysical surveys, exploration activities, or development activities can happen on leases given out under this subsection until certain money is collected.
Specifically, the Director of the Congressional Budget Office, working with the Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of the Interior, must first certify that at least $121,250,000 has been received by the Treasury from those lease sales.
