What this amendment would do

This amendment was submitted by Mr. Moreno to be proposed for the bill H.R. 1. The common sense goal of this amendment is to lower the tax on heavy trucks and trailers, keeping our elected officials accountable to the hardworking people who rely on these vehicles for their livelihoods.

What It Changes

The amendment changes the current tax rate found in section 4051.
It replaces the existing 12 percent tax rate with a much lower 2 percent rate for subsections (a)(1) and (b)(1).
This new 2 percent tax rate will apply to sales, uses, and installations that happen after December 31, 2025.
