What this amendment would do

Mrs. Murray submitted amendment SA 2684. The purpose of this amendment is to add a section regarding academic accountability and transparency to the bill.

Specifically, the amendment aims to change the rules so that a scholarship granting organization cannot award a scholarship for tuition at a public, private, or religious elementary or secondary school unless that school meets three specific requirements:

The school must give State annual assessments to all of its students at no cost, including alternate assessments for students with significant cognitive disabilities if applicable.
The school must produce and share individual student achievement reports with parents, teachers, and school leaders as soon as possible, in an understandable format and language.
The school must submit the assessment data to the State every year to be included in the State report card.
