What this amendment would do

SA 2679, submitted by Mr. Heinrich, aims to add a section to title I of the bill regarding the eradication of New World Screwworm.

The purpose of this amendment is to provide $500,000,000 from the Treasury to the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program. These funds would remain available until September 30, 2029, to support the following:

Surveillance
Training
Biosecurity
Research
Construction of one or more facilities for rearing or dispersing sterilized New World Screwworm flies
