What this amendment would do

Mr. Bennet submitted SA 2647 to be proposed to amendment SA 2360 to the bill H.R. 1.

The purpose of this amendment is to change a specific section of the bill regarding fees. Specifically, it strikes out lines 20 through 23 on page 895 and adds an exception so that certain people do not have to pay the fee described in that section.

Who is Exempt from the Fee

Any alien who was ordered removed in absentia if that order was rescinded under a specific section of the law (8 U.S.C. 1229a(b)(5)(C)).
An individual determined to be an unaccompanied alien child who did not have a legal representative on file with the court when the removal order was entered.
