What this amendment would do
As folks who rely on our elected officials to do the right thing, we need to keep an eye on how government timelines are managed. Ms. Cantwell submitted amendment SA 2615, which is intended to be proposed to another amendment on the bill H.R. 1.
What It Changes
The main purpose of this amendment is to change a specific deadline related to spectrum auctions. Currently, the text in the Communications Act of 1934 sets an expiration date of March 9, 2023, for certain licensing and permitting activities.
This amendment aims to strike that out and replace it with a new date. Specifically, it changes the deadline so that the requirement to complete a system of competitive bidding will now expire on September 30, 2034.
