What this amendment would do

As your legislative analyst, let us look straight at what this amendment actually does for the people's money. Submitted by Mr. Booker, amendment SA 2597 changes section 40003(a) of the bill by striking paragraphs (1) and (2) and replacing them with new funding amounts and priorities.

Here is what the amendment aims to add and change:

$9,500,000,000 for telecommunications infrastructure modernization and systems upgrades. Priority for this money must go to regions with repeated instances of a complete failure of the telecommunication system between TRACON facilities and approaching aircraft.
$6,000,000,000 for radar systems replacement. Priority for this money also goes to the same regions described for the telecommunications upgrades.
