What this amendment would do

This amendment was submitted by Mr. Schumer, along with Ms. Warren and Mr. Reed. Its purpose is to hold officials accountable by putting strict rules on how taxpayer money is spent on presidential travel and by stopping conflicts of interest.

What the Amendment Changes

It bans the use of any funds from the Act to buy, fix up, restore, or maintain any aircraft that was previously owned by a foreign government, a group controlled by a foreign government, or a foreign representative if that aircraft is meant to be used for presidential airlift options.
It bans the use of any funds from the Act to support any group, project, or contract where the President or the family of the President has a direct or indirect financial interest.
