What this amendment would do

Mr. Peters put forward this amendment to make sure our National Parks have enough workers to take care of them. If we want our parks to stay clean and open for everyone to enjoy, the people we elected need to be held accountable for giving them the proper support. This change strikes out an old section and replaces it with a clear plan for funding.

What changes or additions are being made

The amendment provides an extra $150,000,000 to the Secretary of the Interior for fiscal year 2026.
This money is specifically meant to hire employees for units of the National Park System, national scenic trails, and components of the National Trails System.
The funds will stay available for use through September 30, 2029.
