S.Amdt. 2563

Mrs. Shaheen submitted amendment SA 2563 to the bill H.R. 1. The purpose of this amendment is to stop any of the money appropriated by the act from being used to cut jobs at public shipyards.

What it changes or adds:

• Adds a prohibition on the use of funds to reduce the public shipyard workforce, including people on probation.
• Exempts the public shipyard workforce and specific positions from job cuts tied to spending cuts, moving funds around, or employee probationary status.
• Protects specific jobs like welders, pipefitters, shipfitters, radiological technicians and engineers, engineers and engineer technicians, apprentices, mechanics, painters and blasters, and positions that support workforce pipelines, nuclear maintenance and refueling, infrastructure maintenance and operations, and the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program.
