What this amendment would do

Mr. Welch submitted the amendment, known as SA 2539, to be proposed for the bill H.R. 1, which provides for reconciliation pursuant to title II of H. Con. Res. 14.

The purpose of this amendment is to strike sections 10201 and 10301 of the bill and insert a new section 10301 regarding reference prices. It aims to change the Agricultural Act of 2014 by redesignating subparagraphs and adding a new rule for effectiveness. Specifically, it adds that beginning with the 2025 crop year, the reference prices for a covered commodity must equal the defined reference price multiplied by 1.05.
