Mr. Welch submitted this amendment, numbered SA 2537, to be proposed to another amendment on the bill H.R. 1. If we want to keep our elected officials accountable, we need to know what changes they are trying to slip into these large reconciliation bills.

What It Aims to Change

This amendment focuses on two main parts of existing laws:

Household adjustments: It changes how household sizes are adjusted for food benefits under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 by setting specific percentage ratios for households ranging from 1 person to 9 persons or more compared to a 4-person household.
Reference prices: It updates the reference prices for covered commodities under the Agricultural Act of 2014, making the reference prices equal to the defined price multiplied by 1.1, effective beginning with the 2025 crop year.
