What this amendment would do

Mr. Whitehouse, along with Mr. Reed and Ms. Hirono, submitted amendment SA 2516 to the bill H.R. 1.

The purpose of this amendment is to index Federal Pell Grants for inflation.

  • It sets the amount at $1,060 for the award years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
  • For the award year 2026-2027 and every year after that, it increases the previous year's amount by the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers.
