S.Amdt. 2472

Mr. Schiff submitted amendment SA 2472 to the bill. The purpose of this amendment is to add a prohibition to section 50301(f) regarding how federal land is handled.

Here is what the amendment aims to change:

• It stops the Secretary from getting rid of any tract of covered Federal land if an Indian Tribe gives notice about it.
• The Tribe must have a confirmed connection to the land under specific laws like the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, or a historic property located on the land.
• The Tribe must also explicitly object to the proposed disposal of that land.
