What this amendment would do

As folks looking out for the everyday people and keeping our elected officials accountable, we need to know what is happening with our public lands. This amendment, submitted by Mr. Schiff, aims to add a Prohibition to section 50301(f) of the bill.

The Secretary cannot get rid of any tract of covered Federal land if certain objections are raised.
Disposal is blocked if the Governor of the State where the land is located sends a notice saying they disapprove of the proposed disposal.
Disposal is also blocked if an Indian Tribe sends a notice indicating they have a confirmed connection to the land under specific federal acts or historic property laws, and they object to the proposed disposal.
