What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Mr. Schiff. Its purpose is to hold officials accountable by making certain sections of the bill conditional before they can actually go into effect.
-
It aims to add a rule stating that sections 10101 through 10108 can only take effect after specific reports are issued and certified.
-
The Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service, the Administrator of the Economic Research Service of the Department of Agriculture, and all State agencies must issue reports and certify that the changes to the supplemental nutrition assistance program will not cause a decrease in benefits for eligible households with children under the age of 18.
-
They must also certify that the changes will not cause a decrease in participation due to eligibility changes impacting households with children under the age of 18, compared to what would have happened without these sections.
