What this amendment would do
Here is the plain-language breakdown of what this amendment is all about, keeping our elected officials accountable to the people:
Ms. Rosen submitted SA 2424 as an amendment to a larger legislative package (specifically to amendment SA 2360, proposed by Mr. Thune for Mr. Graham, on the bill H.R. 1).
The purpose of this amendment is to change section 40002(a)(3) by striking subparagraph (B) and replacing it with new rules regarding specific radio frequency bands.
Specifically, it aims to add protections so that the following are not included for purposes of auction, reallocation, modification, or withdrawal:
- The band of frequencies between 3.1 gigahertz and 3.45 gigahertz
- The band of frequencies between 7.4 gigahertz and 8.4 gigahertz
- Any band of frequencies that the Commission has previously auctioned or licensed for terrestrial commercial or private use through a system of competitive bidding (under section 309(j) of the Communications Act of 1934) or for shared use (under part 96 of title 47 of the Code of Federal Regulations, or any successor regulations).
