What this amendment would do

This amendment was submitted by Ms. Hirono. It aims to change how money is handed out within the bill by moving funds around to make sure rural mail service gets financial support.

Specifically, the amendment lowers the funding in section 90001 from $46,550,000,000 down to $16,550,000,000.

It then adds a new section for RURAL MAIL SERVICE, which gives the United States Postal Service $30,000,000,000 to cover expenses for maintaining mail service in rural areas. This money is set to stay available for 10 years.
