What this amendment would do

Mr. Cruz submitted this amendment, known as SA 2213, for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. As folks we elected to represent us, we need to know what they are trying to do with our tax dollars and the rules they set up.

What It Aims to Change

  • The amendment sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to limiting or prohibiting the provision of Federal funds to female correctional facilities that house biological male inmates.

  • It lets the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.

  • These revisions can be made for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, and other measures relating to carceral reform.

  • Any legislation using this fund must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
