What this amendment would do
Mr. Lee submitted amendment SA 2208 to the concurrent resolution for the 2025 congressional budget. As folks who elect our officials, we need to know what our representatives are proposing to do with the budget rules.
This amendment sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting children online.
What it changes or adds to the bill
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These adjustments can be made for legislation relating to protecting children online, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2029 or fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
Specifically, the text mentions that protecting children online includes:
- Preventing the distribution of intimate visual depictions without consent
- Requiring age verification for access to pornographic content
- 4/4/2025
