What this amendment would do
MR. LEE submitted amendment numbered SA 2199, which was ordered to lie on the table. The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund related to removing soda and junk food from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
This amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to removing junk food and soda from the supplemental nutrition assistance program established under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008. These changes can be made as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
