What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Mr. Lee. Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to removing soda from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Specifically, it aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise budget allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to removing soda from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program established under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008. These changes can be made as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
